The Fryingpan
April 28, 2008 Day 1
We arrived in Basalt about 8:00 am and check into our hotel and stopped by the local fly shop to get the low down on the river.
After leaving the fly shop we made our way up to the Fryingpan. I just couldn’t wait tell we got to the river. The 20 min. drive seem to take for ever. Well we finally got to the rivers edge about 10 min. from the dam and
man the river seemed to be running high. But it look really good!
The water was cool and there was still snow on the rivers bank. I was getting excited by the
min. So I put on my gear and setup my fly rod and took a walk up river about 20 yards
when I saw a group of trout hanging out on the bank. They look to be about 10 to 15 inch.
I thought lets go ahead and give these guys a try. I was about 20 or so yards off up on
the road above. It seem to be pretty steep and rocky, but I just couldn’t wait any longer. So I casted down from the road and believe it or not, on the first cast I hooked up with one of those little Browns. If this was a sign of things to come we were in for a great weekend.

The Roaring Fork
April 29, 2008 Day 2
The Roaring Fork River! What can you say? Its great is all! The very next day we made our way out on the Roaring Fork River. We started fishing at the bridge just off highway 82. Black and dark brown Stoneflies seem to do the trick with Sizes 10 - 14. We were hooking into some really good size fish. This section of water seems to be
popular for most wading anglers. Over all the Roaring Fork is a solid 10. Asking most
anglers would say that the Roaring Fork should be on your short list of rivers to fish.
